Who We Serve
Safe Space Sudan is being built to support Sudanese individuals and families experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges. While our services will address the full spectrum of mental health needs, we will place particular attention on individuals affected by war, displacement, and conflict-related trauma.
Our work will prioritize safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive support for communities facing barriers to accessing mental health care, with particular focus on women, children, elders, and persons with disabilities, who are often disproportionately affected by conflict, displacement, and social instability.
Safe Space Sudan is committed to equity, dignity, and equal treatment for all individuals, regardless of gender, age, disability, background, or social status. Through our programs and partnerships, we aim to ensure that mental health services are accessible, respectful, and responsive to the diverse needs of Sudanese communities.
Our Values
Safe Space Sudan’s work is guided by a set of core values that shape how we design programs, collaborate with communities, and deliver mental health support.
Human Dignity
We believe that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Mental health support must be delivered in ways that honor people’s experiences, identities, and cultural context.
Mental Health as a Human Right
We believe that access to mental health care is a fundamental human right. Everyone should have the opportunity to receive safe, ethical, and professional mental health support regardless of their background or circumstances.
Equity and Inclusion
We are committed to ensuring that mental health services are inclusive and accessible to all, with particular attention to women, children, elders, and persons with disabilities who often face greater barriers to care.
Professional Integrity
Safe Space Sudan promotes mental health services that align with recognized professional and ethical standards. We aim to contribute to the development of responsible and high-quality mental health systems.
Community-Centered Approach
We believe that sustainable mental health support must be rooted in the needs, voices, and strengths of the communities we serve.
